Dawn is a quiet, reflective piece that is meant to depict the feeling of watching the sun rise over a lake. Using mostly the first six notes of concert Bb, with an extended lower range for clarinet, tenor sax, and french horn, Matt creates a beautiful soundscape that sounds very mature but is playable by younger and older bands alike. With interesting parts for every instrument, and optional audio tracks in the percussion 2 part, this warm and inviting piece will please students and audiences alike.
